Scrambling allows you to access some thrilling terrain and exciting positions in the mountains. Whether you’re wanting to scale Jacks Rake, Tryfans North Ridge or complete a traverse of Liathach, we will introduce you to essential skills and ways of thinking to allow you to keep safe and move efficiently over grade 1 and 2 terrain. Looking at route choice and movement over technical ground, you’ll begin to understand how to move efficiently. Over more consequential terrain we will cover the basic use of a rope, look at placing runners and simple but effective belays and belay techniques, with the aim of keeping you and your partner safe.
What will I need?
We will provide all technical equipment. You'll need a good pair of stiff mountain boots and if you have your own harness and helmet, please bring them along. Scrambling can be physically demanding and may involve a substantial walk to get to the best locations, so you'll also need a good level of fitness.
